I struggle with our ups and downs
All the times you've screwed around How you love to be out there Crossing lines I'd never dare Doing things you never should Convince yourself you're being good When you meet someone new How quickly do they take to you Holding out as long as you can Let them think you're a single man How long before you'll admit That you're in a relationship How often do you flirt and flatter Carry on as if I didn't matter Leading everyone to believe What a great catch you would be You'll seek out those to fool Into thinking the world of you You continue to lie along the way To protect the image you portray You think you're air of conceit Will hide you insecurity And the few who see thru this You no longer associate with You'll take anyone under your wing In order to improve your self-esteem You can't take the chance others see You're not as great as you claim to be You carry yourself in such a way Even knowing how I'd be betrayed You're not concerned if I'm hurt When I see you put others first My name you'll never mention Once you're the center of their attention So much you can't help but gloat And hurting the one who matters most When will it ever be enough Before you are devoted to us I'm sorry if these words hurt you But you can't deny some are true I am not perfect or claim to be I welcome you to list the flaws in me © copyright (2019) Zimshall Vote for this poem
